![]() None of this rules out the possibility that Hawkeye's Fisk is still the same one we saw in Daredevil. We can't be sure these are the same versions of Kingpin and Daredevil we know from the Netflix series. That said, these reveals don't directly confirm the Netflix shows are part of the official MCU canon. It may be only a matter of time before we see other familiar faces like Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, Mike Colter's Luke Cage or Jon Bernthal's Punisher pop up in the MCU. Fisk and Murdock are now the first two characters to make the jump from the Netflix-verse to the MCU proper, and it's probably safe to assume they won't be the only ones. Up until now, the connections between the Netflix shows and the larger MCU have been tenuous at best. Needless to say, D'onofrio reprising his Daredevil role is a huge development for the MCU. Is This the Kingpin From Daredevil on Netflix? After all, Spider-Man is the only Marvel hero whose feud with Kingpin is older than even Daredevil's. Fisk could also appear in a future Spider-Man sequel. With Cox's Matt Murdock also inducted into the MCU, Fisk is all but guaranteed to appear in whatever future Daredevil series/movie Marvel Studios is cooking up. Nor is the Echo series the only place we're likely to see Kingpin appear. Throw Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock into the mix and you have a series with a unique chance to explore superheroes and villains dealing with physical disabilities. Marvel Studios tends to focus on villains who mirror their foes as directly as possible, so we may see Fisk grapple with losing his eyesight or hearing even as the show shines a spotlight on the MCU's second deaf heroine (the first being The Eternals' Makkari). Whatever the case, Fisk seems a logical choice of villain for the upcoming Echo spinoff series. It's also possible Echo actually fired the gun near Fisk's face rather than into it, possibly leaving him deaf rather than blind. He may have been blinded, though Echo would have to be a Hawkeye-worthy markswoman to take out both eyes with one bullet and not kill Fisk in the process (unless he was burned by the muzzle flare). As in the Daredevil comics, we'll probably find out he was injured by Echo's gunshot but not killed. We can only assume Fisk's return is a question of when rather than if. But again, given how closely the series is drawing from the comics with this Echo/Kingpin dynamic, there's little reason to assume Fisk is actually dead. No sooner does D'Onofrio make his full return as Fisk than his character is seemingly killed by Echo herself. The Hawkeye: Season 1 finale is a bittersweet experience for Daredevil fans. Is Kingpin Really Dead After the Hawkeye Finale? As a parting gift, Echo shoots Fisk in the face and blinds him. Only after learning the two men are one and the same does Echo realize her "father" manipulated her. She sets out to kill Daredevil even as she falls in love with Matt Murdock. Fisk proves to be a man of his word, though he's only too happy to use his adopted daughter as ammo in his ongoing feud with Daredevil. Never mind the fact that Fisk was the one responsible for his death in the first place. In the comics, a young Fisk once promised Maya's dying father he would raise her as his own daughter. When it comes to Echo, the series is drawing heavily from the character's early appearances in the comic book series Marvel Knights: Daredevil. We also now know it was Fisk, not Ronin, who actually murdered Maya's father. ![]() ![]() We would later see a photo of him at the end of Episode 5.įisk finally does step into the spotlight in Episode 6, where we learn much more about his connection to characters like Echo and Kate's mother Eleanor. There was little doubt as to the identity of Maya Lopez's "uncle" and the secret mastermind running the Tracksuit Mafia. ![]() While Fisk doesn't play a major role in the series until the Season 1 finale, his presence was teased as far back as Episode 3, where D'Onofrio's laughter can be heard in a flashback scene with a young Echo. But how exactly does this fan-favorite villain fit into the larger MCU puzzle, and should we assume Fisk is dead following the events of the Season 1 finale? Is this even the same version of Fisk from Netflix's Daredevil? Here's what we know so far. Vincent D'Onofrio has made his long-overdue return as Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin. The series has also become the first MCU project to feature an actor reprising their role from Netflix's Marvel shows, narrowly beating Spider-Man: No Way Home to the punch. Marvel's Hawkeye is a big deal for the MCU, and not just because it introduced Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop to live-action. ![]()
